Welcome to OzekiNG help!
The Ozeki NG - SMS
Gateway software enables you to use your computer to send and
receive SMS messages to and from mobile devices. It allows SMS
messaging in two ways: directly connecting to the SMS Center of a
GSM service provider over the Internet or connecting to it using a
GSM modem attached to the PC with a phone-to-PC data
cable.
To configure OzekiNG, you need to
click on the "Manage / Configure" menu item in the popup menu of the
service monitor taskbar application (Figure 1).

If everything goes well a web browser will open with the
login window of the application (Figure 2).
Figure 2 - Login window
In this login window you can log into the
server with your username and password.
Do not forget to change the initial
password!
Troubleshooting tips:
What to do if you do not see the
login window in your browser?
In order to be able to log into
the server, it must be started. If the server is running the
service monitor taskbar icon will have a green triangle in the bottom right hand
corner (Figure 3).

started icon.
Alternatively you can use the windows service
manager to check if the service is running. This can be verified if
you see the "Started" text next to the name of the service (Figure
4).
To manage Windows
Services
1.
Click Start and then click Control Panel. 2. In the Control
Panel, click Administrative tools. 3.
Click Services.

Figure 4 - Windows services
If the service is not started, you should
read the log file or check the windows
event viewer
(Figure 5) to find out what
is the problem.
Read the log file!
You can find
the OzekiNG log files in the "C:\Program Files\Ozeki\OzekiNG - SMS
Gateway\Logs\" directory.
Check the windows event
viewer!
Starting Event Viewer
To start
Event Viewer click Start, point to Control Panel, point to
Administrative Tools, and then click Event Viewer.

Selecting
Computers
With appropriate administrative authority, you
can select any computer in your network to view that computer's
Event logs.
To select computers in Event Viewer:
1. In the top of the console tree,
right-click Event Viewer (local), and then click Connect to another
computer. 2. Either browse to the computer
name or type the computer name in the dialog box to view the Event
log on that
computer. 3. Click OK.
Adjusting Event Viewer Settings
You can adjust
Event Viewer settings for a specific log file.
To adjust the settings for a log
file:
1. In
the console tree, right-click the appropriate log file, and then
click Properties. 2. Click the
General tab.
Saving Event Logs
You can save Event Logs
for later analysis or for use as historical data. The log files are
saved to a file name and location that you choose, with a file name
extension that is determined by the format of the saved log file.
To
save Event logs:
1. In the console tree,
right-click the appropriate log file, and then click Save Log File
As. 2. Navigate to the subfolder in
which you want to save the file, type a name for the file, click the
file type, and then
click Save.
Clearing Event
Logs
You
can manually clear all of the events from an Event log when
necessary. On heavily used servers, it is a good idea to save data
from the Event log for later administrative use before you clear all
of the events.
To clear Event
logs: 1. In the console tree, right-click
the appropriate log file, and then click Clear all Events. 2. You are prompted for whether you
want to save the log to a file before clearing it. 3. Click Yes to save a log and clear
all events. If you click No, the log is not saved, but all events
are cleared from the
selected Event log. If you click Cancel,
the request to clear the log is canceled.
Viewing Event
Details
After you select a log
in the Event Viewer, you can search, filter, sort, and view details
about events.
To view events: 1. In the console tree,
right-click the appropriate log file. A list of events in the log
file is displayed in the details pane of
Event Viewer. 2. Click a specific event in the
details pane to display the Event Properties dialog box and details
about the event.
Filtering
Events
You
can specify a filter that limits the type of information that you
want Event Viewer to display. These filters only affect which event
log items are displayed in the viewer.
To filter
events: 1. In the console tree, right-click
the appropriate log file, and then click Properties. 2. Click the Filter tab. 3. Type the appropriate information
that you would like to filter. 4. Click OK.
Finding Events
Event Viewer provides
the option to search for events. Searches can be useful when you are
viewing large logs.
To find an event: 1. In the console tree, right-click
the appropriate log file. 2. On
the View menu, click Find. 3. Type
the appropriate information that you would like to find in the
dialog box, and then click Find Next. 4. Click Close when you are
finished.

If you're running Windows XP Service Pack 2
(SP2) the new Windows Firewall is turned on by default. To help
protect your computer against viruses or security threats, we
recommend that you keep Windows Firewall on. Because
a firewall restricts communication between your computer and the
Internet, you might need to adjust settings for some programs that
prefer an open connection. These adjustments are called
"exceptions."
Windows Firewall now has three settings:
On, On with no exceptions, and
Off.
On: Windows Firewall
is turned on by default, and normally you should leave it that way.
When you choose this setting, Windows Firewall blocks all
unsolicited requests to connect to your computer, except for
requests to programs or services selected on the Exceptions
tab.
On with no exceptions: When you select
the Don't allow exceptions check box, Windows Firewall blocks all
unsolicited requests to connect to your computer, including requests
to programs or services selected on the Exceptions tab. Use this
setting when you need maximum protection for your
computer.
Off: This setting turns Windows
Firewall off. When you choose this setting, your computer is much
more vulnerable to harm from unknown intruders or viruses from the
Internet. This setting should only be used by advanced users for
computer administration purposes, or if your computer is protected
by another firewall.
To adjust Windows Firewall
settings
1. Click Start and then click Control
Panel. 2. In the Control Panel, click Windows Security
Center. 3. Click Windows Firewall. 4. In the General Tab make
your selection (Figure 7).
If you are on a
safe network, you can temporarily choose to
disable the firewall to check if that blocks you
from
accessing the service configuration form. If you decide to go
with this option: Do not
forget to enable
your firewall again after this check!
